Notifications
Every notification 12sell can send — push, email, SMS — and exactly how to configure each one to fit your day.
12sell uses notifications to keep you in the loop on new messages, matching deals, boost activity, verification updates, and platform announcements. All of it is configurable from one screen.
This page covers what each notification triggers, where to control it, and the patterns active users on 12sell typically use.
How to open notification settings
- Web — Settings → Notifications.
- iOS — Settings tab → Notifications.
- Android — Settings tab → Notifications.
Mobile also has a System Notification Settings shortcut that opens your phone's OS-level controls so you can mute 12sell at the device level if needed.
The master switch
At the top of the notification settings page is a single toggle: Push Notifications — Enable all notifications.
Turn it off and 12sell stops sending all push notifications until you turn it back on. Useful if you're traveling, in a meeting, or want a break — no need to disable each setting individually.
When the master switch is off, the rest of the settings on the page are visible but greyed out.
Deal and Showcase Notifications
The two biggest content types — Deals and Showcases — each have a three-mode setting:
| Mode | What you get |
|---|---|
| All | Notifications for every new deal/showcase that matches your profile setup categories and brands |
| Following | Notifications only when businesses you follow post a new deal/showcase |
| Off | Never notified about new deals/showcases (you can still browse the feeds) |
The platform default is Following for both — the right balance for most users. Switch to All if you're actively sourcing and want everything in your category space; switch to Off if you'd rather check the feeds on your own time.
Settings are independent: you can have Deals → All and Showcases → Following if deals are more time-sensitive for you.
Private List Notifications
A single switch controls notifications from any Private List you're a subscriber on:
- On — get notified when a list owner posts new content into one of their lists you've joined.
- Off — quietly check the lists when you want.
You can also mute notifications per-list — useful if you're subscribed to many lists but only want pings from one. Per-list mute is set on the individual list screen.
Message Notifications
Message notifications are always on by default — chat is too important to mute platform-wide. To control message notifications:
- Mute a single conversation — open the chat, menu → Mute. The conversation stays in your inbox; you just stop getting pushes for new messages in it.
- Mute (or snooze) a group chat — group chats have their own per-member mute/snooze, set from the group's info panel, independent of one-to-one chats.
- Unmute anytime from the same menu.
- Master switch — turning the master notification switch off above silences messages too, but most users keep it on for messages and tune the others instead.
You'll get push notifications for:
- New text messages — in one-to-one and group chats.
- Voice messages (with a "sent a voice message" preview).
- Attachments (image, document, location).
- Reactions to your messages (configurable in some platforms).
- Replies in long threads.
Verification, Tokens, and System
Other notifications you'll see (none of which are configurable separately — they ride on the master switch):
- Verification status — when your application moves from Pending to Verified, Rejected, or Expired.
- Boost expiry — heads-up when a Boost is about to end.
- Token purchase confirmation — after a successful Stripe / Apple IAP / Google Play top-up.
- Referral milestone — when an invitee becomes an active user and you're credited.
- Company invite — when a verified Company owner invites you as a member.
- Private list approval — when a list owner approves your subscribe request.
Announcements
Platform-wide announcements (new features, regional offers, system messages) appear in your Inbox rather than as push notifications. They don't interrupt; you read them when you open the inbox.
How notifications travel
| Platform | Delivery channel |
|---|---|
| iOS | Apple Push Notification Service (APNs) |
| Android | Firebase Cloud Messaging (FCM) |
| Web | Browser push (where supported) + an in-app toast for users with the tab open |
When you sign in on a new device, that device is registered for notifications automatically. Sign out on a device → it's deregistered.
Cross-device behavior
If you're signed in on more than one device:
- Messages — every signed-in device gets the push. Reading the message on one device marks it read on all of them within a few seconds.
- Deals/Showcases/Announcements — pushed to all signed-in devices. Reading on one updates the unread badge across the others.
Common patterns
| Profile | Recommended setup |
|---|---|
| Active sourcer | Deals: All, Showcases: Following, Master: On |
| Showcase-led seller | Deals: Following, Showcases: All, Master: On |
| Casual browser | Deals: Off, Showcases: Off, Master: On (for messages only) |
| Quiet hours | Master: Off; rely on iOS Focus / Android Do-Not-Disturb to schedule, then re-enable |
Common questions
Why am I not getting notifications?
Most common causes, in order:
- OS-level permissions — open phone settings, find 12sell, allow notifications.
- Master switch is off — check Settings → Notifications → Push Notifications.
- Mode is set to "Off" for that content type.
- Conversation is muted (for message notifications).
- Browser has push disabled (for web).
Why am I getting too many notifications?
Switch Deals and Showcases from All to Following, or to Off entirely. The default of Following is what most users prefer.
Can I get email digests instead of push?
Email is currently used for transactional events (verification, password reset, purchase receipt) — not for content digests. The fastest channel for new deals is push.
What about SMS?
SMS notifications are reserved for verified accounts on a limited set of events (e.g. critical security alerts). They aren't a substitute for push.
How do I temporarily mute everything?
Turn off the Push Notifications master switch. Turn it back on when you want to resume.
Will turning off notifications log me out?
No. Notifications and sessions are independent. Turning off notifications just stops pushes — your account, Tokens, messages, and content are unaffected.
Do follower notifications wake my phone in the middle of the night?
12sell delivers notifications immediately — there's no quiet-hours window built in. Use your phone's Focus (iOS) or Do Not Disturb (Android) to silence overnight, or toggle the master switch off before bed.
How do I stop notifications from one specific person?
Mute the conversation in Messaging (you still see their messages, just no push), or Block them entirely (they disappear from your account).
